Little Miss Sunshine

28 Months!

We're finally getting some warm weather. Mark has been out of town a lot, so when he is, me and Adisyn like to hang out by our backyard pool. She is very happy when she's outside and could play out there all day.

We have really took advantage of the warm days by going to the zoo and the pool. Adisyn has only been to the pool a few times this year and she is getting better and better at swimming as well as becoming more comfortable in the pool. We have a floaty bathing suit we tried on her and after taking a little while to get use to it, she really seemed to get more comfortable in the water. One of us is still holding onto her, of course, but she really likes kicking, moving her arms and jumping off the side of the pool. One time we only brought a noodle with us without her floaty bathing suit and she barely needed any help floating while holding on to the noodle ahead of her! She even twisted in the water and put her face under the water!

We decided to take a spur of the moment trip to Charlotte one day. It's only about an hour from our house, but even though it's that close, I don't think we go there enough. It's a great city so while we were on the way there I decided to look up something to do. We decided on the Charlotte Nature Museum:  http://www.charlottenaturemuseum.org/ which was just perfect for the day! Adisyn really like seeing all of the animals and walking around in the back yard of the museum to explore. It was small, but the perfect size for her! It was also nice to explore somewhere where we don't visit often.

We took a fun little family trip to Charleston over one weekend. I really like the city and with it not being to far away from us, it's a perfect weekend trip. When we arrived Friday, we walked around the old market. Adisyn's favorite park was walking on the boardwalk that night, swinging on the swings that they have on the boardwalk, but most importantly running around in the big fountain they have at the end of the boardwalk. She had so much fun! We got back to the hotel she was very happy that she was sleeping in a big bed all by herself! The next day, after breakfast, we took a carriage ride with a nice horse named Bill through the city. The carriage ride is so nice to hear about all of the history in the city. Adisyn really liked Bill, but she wasn't too sure about petting him on his forehead. After the carriage ride we tried to get Adisyn to take a nap, so we enjoyed driving around the city when we had a huge rainstorm come that quickly flooded the city! The water was so deep but luckily we didn't have any trouble getting through (and within an hour it was all dried up). After she finally took a nap we went to the South Carolina Aquarium: http://www.scaquarium.org/ . Adisyn loved seeing all of the animals and she got to touch a snake and a baby alligator. She wasn't afraid of either one, but when a person dressed up as a otter came around, she didn't want to go near him! After the aquarium, we took a trip out to the beach. It was still a little cloudy, windy and not too warm, but we still wanted to make a trip anyway. We went to see the lighthouse on Sullivan's Island: http://www.lighthousefriends.com/light.asp?ID=334, which has a great beach so that's where we find now when we want to go to the beach. Adisyn was so excited when she took off her shoes and ran on the beach, but if you remember, she wasn't too sure about the ocean (or at least the waves). I took her up to the water and told her we were going to "pop all the bubbles" out of the ocean and she slowly began putting her feet deeper and deeper in, until she was up to her knees. We started jumping over the waves as Mark took some pictures and she loved it! She's officially not afraid of the waves anymore!

One the way home we had to stop at Riverbanks Zoo in Columbia:  http://www.riverbanks.org/, as we have basically made this a tradition on our way home from the coast. Adisyn's favorite part of this trip was the Merry-Go-Round and the train. We haven't taken her on these in the past, so she wasn't too sure of the Merry-Go-Round at first, but the 2nd time I took her on she had so much fun! She would give Mark the biggest smile every time we went around an saw him!

Since I haven't given many updates recently, here are some of the things Adisyn likes:
- the color purple
- apples
- animals
- books
- shoes
- playing outside
- favorite songs: "Mr. Sun", Lorde's "Team", and still, her all-time favorite: "A,B,C", but she really likes just about every song on her kid music CD

Things she likes to do:
- dance and sing to music
- jump (this is what she does when she's excited)
- go to "gymnastics"
- read before bedtime
- she will give someone a hug if they look sad or are crying and tell them "it'll be ok"

Things she can do:
- count to 30
- count to 10 in Spanish
- spell her name
- knows the shapes: heart, circle, triangle, star, and square
- knows all of the basic colors
- knows the days of the week
- knows some basic words in Spanish like up, down, open and can answer me if I ask her a basic question in Spanish
- is mostly potty trained - at school she goes to the potty all day except when she wakes up for a nap and she is wet. She only has once told me when she needs to poop, so we're working on that. She will sometimes want to resort to her diaper after going all day with her "big girl undies on" and we still use a diaper when we're in the car.

Funny things she does:
- says "2 Chainz" when she's singing songs (I'm sure my sister and niece will think this is funny)
- she practices her "sad face", "happy face", "mad face" and "surprised face"
- she will make up words to the songs just to be funny such as "One, two buckle my horse"

Adisyn is such a smart, funny, caring little girl! We are so proud of her everyday as she amazes us with the things she can do and say! We are so blessed and lucky to have such a precious girl!
